Take Action for Happiness: Altruistic August

“Wherever there is a human being, there is an opportunity for kindness” – Seneca

Research shows that when we witness an act of kindness, we are more likely to offer an act of kindness ourselves. Another body of research demonstrated that recipients of an act of kindness are up to 3 times more likely to pay it forward than their control group. In other words, kindness does have a ripple effect – when we do kind acts for others, we directly contribute to making our workplace/our family/our community a happier place.

Watch Action for Happiness Head Psychologist Vanessa King in this brief video talk about simple ways how you can pay it forward by small acts of kindness, everyday.

Our actions make a difference. Happiness is something we do. We can change how we feel by taking small daily actions at home, at school, at work, and in wider society. The monthly calendar is an invitation to take action for happiness in our daily lives. If you have missed to take an action on one or several consecutive days, it’s okay, today is another day.

Action for Happiness is a registered charity under the patronage of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Its mission is to promote a happier world, through a culture that prioritises happiness and kindness. The work of Action for Happiness is underpinned by the evidence-based Ten Keys to Happier Living.
